Goodbye November

Had a very nice Thanksgiving. We had all the usual stuff in a southern Thanksgiving; potato salad, sweet potato casserole, turkey, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce (ick!). Afterwards mom and I went to the casino. She has been going lately, although she has never been a gambler, and winning. She has won over $400 so far. She is going to New Zealand in January and is trying to save/win money for the trip. Neither of us won anything on Thanksgiving though.
My family has gotten very small. I was an only child and so was my mom. My dad only has a sister and a brother, one of which had two kids. One of them is lesbian and the other hasn't had any children. I, of course, won't be having any children either unless some unforeseen opportunity arises.
So, our holidays aren't what they used to be. My granny had 6 brother and sisters and holidays when I was young were full of relatives visiting and many people around the Thanksgiving day table. It was alot of fun and I miss those days. They are gone forever.
So, like I read in a book about gaydom when I first came out, I have to rely on my 'family of friends'. I have been very lucky in that department. Two of my best friends I have known since high school. I have many friends from my college years. I also have made some good friends at work who I keep in touch with. Without all of those friends, my like would seem quite pointless and depressing. Everyone needs some kind of support system; someone to whom they can vent, tell all their troubles. I have several ppl who support me.
Work is getting better. I'm being assigned more projects, although I still don't know what I'm doing and have to have instruction. I'm a little more hopeful that I will end up liking this job.
In other news, Susie informed me last night that she has bought a car. She had an old Honda and really needed something more dependable. I was always expecting to hear she had broken down on the interstate. Her new car is a PT Cruiser convertible. Although I'm not a PT Cruiser fan, I love convertibles. It'll be nice to ride around in this summer.
Looks like I'm going to one more Saints game. Susie bought me a ticket to the new years eve game against the panthers. It's my xmas gift. I'm very excited. My friends Rob, Jen and Ed will be in from out of town. We'll all party on Bourbon street. We even got a balcony room this year.
